“How.. to.. start.. a.. blog…” Those are probably the last words you would probably ever consider searching up. Why? Well with all the new social media platforms consuming our everyday lives, starting a blog is not something you would ever consider.
Step 1: Find a Passion for your Blog
Find a passion or if you have one already, you’re already off to a great start. Starting a blog should have a story behind it whether it be the story of your life or about a deep passion you have for food. Don’t just willing start one for no reason. Like most bloggers, the reason behind their blog is a drive, a passion, a joy. It should be about something you love, not something you force upon yourself to pass time. There are other ways of doing that like binge-watching a TV show or reading a book. For instance, some bloggers consider themselves to be lifestyle bloggers or adventure bloggers. They would share posts about their adventures or a couple of life hacks they have discovered to make life easier. There are so many things you can blog about. Just find something that you love to do and share it with the world.
Remember the reason why you started your blog. It should be a fun way to spend your time, not another task you have to accomplish for the day.
“Self motivation is key. You won’t be successful without it.”
Step 2: Create a Website or Use a Website Builder
Find a website where you can start your blog or create one yourself. There are other websites out there like WordPress, Squarespace, and Blogspot where you can start your blog. From there, you can customize it to look however you want, so you could go for a theme or have none at all, post pictures or not, have blog posts with pictures or not. Having your own blog is like an artist with a blank canvas. The possibilities are endless.
Step 3: Let Your Imagination Run
And finally, start typing. Whenever you feel like writing, maybe have a journal out next to you for all your brainstorms, your phone to publicize the post later, and a cup of tea just for comfort. Your ideas should be able to flow through you from your head to your fingertips.
If you need some help, check out other blogs to see how they are set up. If you really want to go farther with it, check out fellow blogger’s Instagrams to find inspiration for a theme. Honestly, just find something that inspires you to write and then everything else will just flow out of you.
Additional Tips:
- Don’t restrict yourself from using colloquial language because you are your own boss. No one can stop you from doing what you want.
- Do not start a blog if there is no drive behind it. Let it be an activity you WANT to do, not HAVE to do.
