Grace Belle Team Explores Portland

Getting to explore Portland was an absolute dream. We had such a fun time adventuring, trying to survive in the rain (SoCal problems haha), eating lots of yummy food, expanding our cultural horizons, and of course, indulging in way too much coffee, donuts, and ice cream. This was our very first trip as a team and it was such an amazing bonding experience. Six days was just not enough. Here’s a look at what we did and some of our favorite places we ate.

DAY ONE

We arrived safely into PDX around 7pm and first thing on our trip was to get a rental car. In typical Grace Belle fashion, we took our time choosing the most “aesthetically pleasing” car out of our very limited choices. We ended up with a white Chevy Traverse. After barely getting all our luggage to fit in the car, we headed off to get our grub on at Lardo. We basically stuffed our faces with burgers, pork, and fries. We probably didn’t look pretty doing it but our first meal in Portland was so satisfying. Next on the list, go to the grocery store and stock up on lots and lots of ice cream. We ended our night on the beautiful Sauvie Island, where we stayed at one of our very own team members gorgeous country house.

DAY TWO

You would not believe the views we woke up to? So much greenery and fresh air. We were blessed with perfect weather for our first full day of exploring and took advantage of it by wandering through the streets of Downtown Portland, doing some tax free shopping, and of course, eating until our stomachs felt like exploding.

DAY THREE

Unfortunately the weather wasn’t as kind to us today, but we did get to stop by Pip’s Donuts, and nonetheless, we had a great time adventuring around Multnomah Falls and soaking in all the beauty it has to offer. We were in need of some hot coffee to warm up our bodies and ended up at what became one our favorite coffee shops in Portland, Kainos Coffee. It also happened to be Saint Patty’s Day so our very own Portland local took us to McMenamins that night to experience a proper Irish celebration. It was a night to remember!

DAY FOUR

We woke up bright and early to head on over to Good Coffee for our “Grace Belle Coffee Meet Up.” It was so much fun getting the chance to hangout with Marnie, the talented lady behind The Mint Sweater and Esperanza, the gorgeous interior designer with a heart of gold. Before these ladies had to head out, we got to stop by Trinket for some delicious brunch food. After brunch, we were absolutely food coma-ed out so we made our way to Tea Bar which was, as we would say “So Grace Belle,” and spent some much needed time working. We finished off our day by grabbing dinner at Tidbit Food Farms, known for hosting some of Portland’s best food carts, walking around the area, and capping it off with some Salt & Straw ice cream.

DAY FIVE

Today felt like an absolutely dream. We took a day trip out to the beautiful Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood. Coming from sunny SoCal, it had been a while since a lot of us had seen snow so we took advantage of this opportunity and played around, drank hot cocoa, and took lots of pictures until our hearts were full. It was honestly a day to remember. For dinner we got the chance to check out Basilisk, located in this industrial food hall, where we indulged in some fried chicken sandwiches and lots of fries. We thought the day couldn’t get any better but we got to finish it with some swing dancing. Although some of us are definitely more coordinated than others, we all had so much fun stepping out of our comfort zones and dancing the night away!

DAY SIX

Our last day in Portland was so bittersweet. We spent the morning exploring the picturesque Sauvie Island, taking some team photos, getting Dutch Bros Coffee for the second time, and making a last minute stop at Portland Gear to pick up some souvenirs. For lunch we made our way to Danwei Canting and got to try some delicious Beijing food. Just ask anyone on the #GraceBelleTeam, and they will tell you it was definitely an unforgettable experience. We were all in a major food coma so we spent some time walking around and taking pictures with the iconic “Portland, Oregon Old Town” sign. After all the eating we did, we finished our trip with some healthy and super delicious salads from Garden Bar.
