Fashionista of The Month:
-Whitney Duden-
1. We would love to get to know you more. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
HI!! HELLO!! My name is Whitney, also known as fashion blogger @whitney_lynne on Instagram. I love all things fashion, have been known to drink too much caffeine, and have two kiddos I love more than anything.
2. When did you first become interested in fashion?
Honestly, I remember a first grade outfit argument with my dad. I wanted to wear a sweater and tights to school and he told me I needed pants. I guess I begin to establish my own style then, haha. But, I did end up wearing pants to school…he won that argument.
3. If you had to pick one store to shop at for the rest of your life, what would it be?
That is honestly such a tough question, I have three absolute favorite stores…Nordstrom, Zara, and Target. I don’t know that I would be able to chose just one. Can we just say top three?
4. What is your must have accessory?
Hats, definitely hats. I hate washing my hair, and spending time getting ready, so I rarely wash it. So hats definitely help me hide it and they also add to any outfit.
5. Who is your main fashion inspiration?
I don’t know that I have a main inspiration. I believe that it’s all around us; from the streets that we walk, to the places we go, and the people we’re with. It’s weird, some days I feel like it flows out of me and other days I have nothing. Is that everyone, or is it just me?
6. What does your typical day look like?
Other than a typical day being complete chaos, I don’t know that I have a typical day. Between doing photo shoots, styling, being a momma, and just the day to day tasks of life, I feel that it’s never the same. But, I thrive on that. Sometimes nearly to a fault. I’m not a creature of routine, which is one reason I love being the fashion world. It keeps you on your toes, and is forever changing.
7. What are your future goals for your personal brand?
Well, when I first started this, it was another friend and myself . In March I decided to take over and go off on my own, so I am still really new to this world. I have seen growth, and had the opportunity to work with one of my favorite brands, so that tells me I’m doing something right. With all that being said, I’m just going to continue to do me and see where I end up.
8. What makes you feel beautiful?
To me, it’s feeling confident in yourself, and making others feel good about themselves. So I wouldn’t say it’s what I’m wearing, it’s about being comfortable in your own skin. I know that sounds so cliche, but it’s true.
9. What makes your heart beat? What do you believe in, stand for, and want to tell others about?
First and foremost my kids, they’re my heart and soul. But I also believe in respect and kindness, and I feel like this has become a little bit lost in our culture. The little gestures like holding a door for an elderly person, or a simple “please and thank you”. I’m a firm believer in treating people with respect, but also not tolerating anything less than that. Spitting this to the world, even if it’s one person a day, we are having an impact. This holiday season, I’m taking it upon myself to teach more of this to my kids as well. It’s important to teach others, and our younger generations about giving and spreading kindness too.
