Fashionista of the Month
1) We would love to get to know you more. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Absolutely! My name is Kahlea (pronounced “Kay-lee-ah”) and I’m the affinity creator behind @kahleanicolee and kahleanicole.com. I started my blog a year and a half ago during my freshman year of college and it was the best decision I ever made! Next to being a social influencer, I am also in college full time and will be graduating next year with a major in Marketing and a Minor in Entrepreneurship. Besides all that fun stuff, I work part-time for a local gym where I do their social media/office work. Next to all those things, I am passionate about Jesus, encouraging others, and fashion!
2) When did you first become interested in fashion?
I’ve been interested in fashion since I was young. I remember growing up and asking for sketchbooks to draw new outfits or plan out my own, haha! I’ve always loved how with fashion you could clearly express who you are and make every trend your own. The endless possibilities have always enthralled and interested me!
3) What is your favorite place to shop and why?
Ooooh man, that’s a tough one! It’s so difficult for me to narrow it down but my two favorite stores would have to be HM and Express. I love them both because the pieces are timeless, chic, and interchangeable. I have expensive taste (with a college budget that does not support it, ha!) so I love that I can get things at each of those stores that are high fashion and look more expensive, but are completely in my price range!
4) What is your must have accessory?
Sunglasses, without a doubt! Since I’m constantly braving the Florida sun (and heat, goodness sakes) sunnies are imperative! Not only do they automatically elevate any look, but they also protect my eyes while simultaneously acting as a chic accessory!
5) What is your favorite season and why?
I would have to say Winter because Christmas is my favorite time of year! I grew up in Ohio though so I miss all of the colorful lights, drinking hot chocolate and not dying from the heat (thanks Florida), building snowman, going ice skating, etc. Although the Florida beaches are pretty amazing so I can’t complain too much!
6) Who is your main fashion inspiration?
I am a die hard “I would cry if I was ever in her presence” (haha, no really) fan of Chriselle Lim. She is also a social influencer and a complete inspiration. She makes a baggy t-shirt and flip flops look like they should be featured down the Gucci Runway. It’s incredible. Her style is effortless, elegant, chic, and totally swoon worthy. I seriously want everything in her closet!
7) What does your typical day look like?
Oh goodness, do you really want to know? Ha! Typically it looks like this:
5:30am- Hit alarm off
5:45am- Get up and make breakfast / eat / start getting ready
6:35am- Head to the gym
8:30-9:30am- Eat again, ha! Get ready for rest of the day
9:30-10:40am- Do devotional, read, catch up on emails, answer comments/DM’s, look over daily schedule and to do list
10:45am- Head to campus for class
12:15-1:45pm- Have lunch and do homework
2:00-8:00pm- Work at the gym
8:15-10:00pm- Get ready for bed, do more homework, work on blog things, read
10:00pm- Go to sleep
And then on to the next day, haha! That’s my typical schedule but it varies with my class times and then different work shifts!
8) What are your future goals, in general?
My future goals are to finish college and then after that I will be full time blogging (whoop whoop)! That means more opportunities for me to host events, workshops, live videos, and of course create more content for my audience! I also plan to start my own clothing label one day and have a storefront so I’m excited to begin the process of launching that in the near future!
9) What makes you feel beautiful?
Spending time with the Lord, a really big smile, and killer shoes. Oh, and MAC’s Ruby Woo lipstick- fo’ sure.
10) What makes your heart beat?
Oooh that’s a good one! Honestly, people do. Seeing individuals pursue their greatest passions, rise above difficult circumstances, start families, travel the world, make an impact, etc. Knowing and seeing that others are living and not just being alive makes my heart beat.
