Fashionista of the Month
-Allison Karaba-
1) We would love to get to know you more. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Hi my name is Allison and I live in Portland, OR with my husband River and two fur baby kitties Ana (named after Frozen) and Sophie. I’ve been working in Advertising for 5 years and am about to embark on a new career by working part time for a local shop called The Yo Store and growing my style blog, The Thoughtful Closet.

3) What is your favorite place to shop and why?
My favorite brand to shop from is Elizabeth Suzann. I absolutely love her company model and I know very few people that put as much detail into their work as Liz does. I also love to browse Garmentory to discover new and upcoming ethical designers and boutiques and finally for Portland shoppers I absolutely love Johan for minimalistic new and vintage pieces.
4) What is your must have accessory?
This is tricky. I really hate to choose! I also feel like it rotates each season. Right now my must have is my hand necklace by Young Frankk. It’s so unique and I get compliments on it all of the time. It is definitely my go to when I want to spice up an outfit.
5) What is your favorite season and why?
Fall without a question. I love getting cozy and barring myself in sweaters and turtlenecks.
6) Who is your main fashion inspiration?
Most of my inspiration has come through Instagram. There are several ladies who have shaped my style in so many ways on there. Some of these fabulous women are Lee from Style Bee, Morgan from The Garment Life and Caroline from Un-fancy. All of these women are not only extremely stylish but they push me to think about my wardrobe in different ways. From being a more conscious consumer to inspiring a new outfit combination. Seriously love them all.
7) What does your typical day look like?
Right now it’s a little crazy. I’m in the process of changing my career and exploring a new city so every day is different. The most consistent thing in my day to day is coffee and then from there it is a crazy mix of emails, meetings, occasional photo editing and snuggling with my fur babies.
8) What are your future goals, in general?
I want to continue to help women with their closet stresses whether that’s feeling like they have nothing to wear or wanting to make more ethical choices with their clothes. I love helping people and the community I’ve started to build has been such a blessing in my life. I want to keep going and be able to dedicate more of my time to it so that it can be a viable style resource.
9) What makes you feel beautiful?
My husband. Even when my hair is soaking wet and I’m wearing his discarded sweatpants.
10) What makes your heart beat?
People. I’m constantly in awe by what people and especially women in this world can do. They inspire me and push me to do and be better. What I do is for them and when I receive a comment or response it just lights up my whole day.
