Adventurer OF The Month:
-Cynthia Corona-
1) Tell us a little about yourself. We want to get to know you!
Hello there! I’m Cynthia Corona – another traveler in this world. I was born and raised in sunny Mexico and now living in enchanting England but am planning to move somewhere else already. I work as a graphic designer, which helps me to maintain my dream of traveling and goes with my passion for photography.
2) We love seeing photos of your adventures. How did it all start for you?
Since I was a little I loved traveling and exploring new places with my parents, driving across Mexico to remote beaches or picturesque towns. When I turned 18 I made my first backpacking trip to Guatemala which I loved and also inspired me to explore more and more. Right after this I went to study in Barcelona for 10 months and gained a lot of experience and good memories. Since then I haven’t stopped, and keep exploring other countries. So far I have visited 21 countries and lived in Spain, Belgium, and England.
3) Do you have a favorite trip? And if so, what makes it so special?
I went to visit Sri Lanka for a couple of weeks and I wished I could have stayed there longer. It felt like an untouched place. Local people were used to tourism but still conserving their way of doing things. From peaceful tea plantations to quiet beaches, the most magical sunsets and amazing spicy food, which I really loved a lot. Sri Lankans are really friendly and always try to help without expecting anything in return. This is one place I’d love to go back to.
4) You capture the world so beautifully. Do you have any tips on taking and editing photos?
Most of the time my husband takes pictures of me. Otherwise I use my tripod with a remote control. For editing pictures, I use Adobe Lightroom, which I recommend. I find it very useful to take pictures in the middle of the day when is a bit cloudy because the clouds make the light softer and the shadows are not so strong. I preferably like to wake up very early and take pictures during sunrise. What you will get from it is not comparable to the rest of the day.
5) Where do you plan on going next? Any trip in the making?
At the moment I am in the Philippines, writing this, and planning to spend a white Christmas in Germany. After this we are planning a long trip to South America or South East Asia. We are still making decisions so stay tuned for what is coming next.
6) What have you learned along the way, as you’ve explored different places?
There are so many things you learn while traveling. Every place we visited has taught us something. For me, it’s all about culture and people. I have met so many nice people on my journeys and they have taught me to smile and be happy with whatever life is bringing to you. One man in Morocco told us we shouldn’t rush because death is the only one waiting for us… so that means we should enjoy our time and be grateful for what we have. People that you meet along the way is what makes traveling more special.
7) Do you collect any souvenirs from the places you visit?
I actually used to collect things before I started traveling. For my family sometimes I buy bracelets but now I am happier when I show them pictures. Collecting memories is the best souvenir you can have.
8) What makes your heart beat? What do you really believe in, stand for, and want to tell others about?
I love the little things in life because it is all about that. From a person singing that gives you goosebumps to an amazing sunset that makes you cry of joy. I am not a complicated person when it comes to belief. My most important principle is to be a good person and respect others. I know sometimes life can be challenging, but why should we waste our energy on bad vibes? It’s better to smile and continue our path because we have already a lot of work enjoying our own lives.
