10 Things to Add to Your Summer Bucket List

When summer rolls around, the only thing we want is a little bit of relaxation from the crazy workload and a visit from our long-lost friend called sleep. But the one thing that always keeps us away from those things are the countless adventures that await us since the sun is out and about. Here are 10 things you can add to your summer bucket list.

Visit the black sand beaches in Hawaii.

Hawaii itself is such a beautiful place to vacation at. It’s known for its beautiful beaches and tropical scenery. Why not visit the black sand beaches? Black sand beaches aren’t something you see every day. They’re rare because the black sand is formed by volcanoes. When the lava comes in contact with water, it cools rapidly and shatters into debris small enough to be considered sand. Hence, the reason why there are so many black sand beaches in Hawaii. Jump on a water trampoline.

If you don’t know what a water trampoline is, it’s like a trampoline but instead of having legs to hold the trampoline mat up, the mat is connected to a tube so it can flow in the water. You can do so many cool tricks with the water trampoline and the best part is that if you fall off of the trampoline, you’re going to land in the water rather than come face to face with the concrete or metal legs holding a regular trampoline up.

Watch the sunset at the beach.

I say sunset because watching the sunrise is too early and no one wants to do that in the summer. Sunsets are so beautiful to watch and being on the beach allows for you to watch the sun go down with no skyscrapers to block nature’s beauty. Watching the sunset is perfect for anyone that lives on the West Coast because the beaches are in the west and therefore it would be the ideal sunset. The East Coast would be perfect for the sunrise since the sun rises in the east.

Yell at the top of a mountain.

Yelling at the top of a mountain is like letting all your worries leave. The hike up to the top is the tiring part (because when is it not.) Once you reach the top, you get the feeling of being on top of the world and yelling at the top of your lungs is invigorating. It’s that sigh of relief and success. A good WOOHOO is like the “Yes. I did it!

Go cave exploring.

While reaching the top is more of an enlightening experience, going down under can also be an adventure. Being in the unknown part of nature can be interesting too because there’s so much that goes unsaid about underground caves. Everyone always says “remember, it’s better to look up” but sometimes you need to break away from the dreamland and get back on the ground to enjoy the real world.

Go parasailing.

It’s like skateboarding on water. The wind and the water can either be your friends or your enemies. You never know what you’re going to encounter with the unspeakable waves, which is part of the appeal. You have to think on your feet and be ready for anything with parasailing.

Wrestle in a sumo suit.

Honestly, wrestling in sumo suits is like being a kid again. You can wrestle with your friends and still have such a great time because everyone can look weird together. It’s definitely something everyone should try (unless you have physical difficulties. Don’t hurt yourself.) Remember the weird memories are the ones that stay with you.

Take a road trip with no planned destination.

Road trips with your pals are always fun, but having no idea where you’re going is the adventure. That’s when the quote “it’s all about the journey” comes into play. Heading nowhere will allow you and your friends to make mistakes and learn more about each other and how each person deals with the troubles that will surely come with a drive to nowhere.

Go zip lining.

Zip lining is like getting a taste of flying with a guide being a rope. The feeling of zipping through the air is a thrill. With the air just rushing by and the freedom of seeing the world from up above with no borders, it’s an unforgettable experience that you won’t regret. “Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.”

Attend a summer music festival.

Summer is known for the countless music festivals. With festivals like Coachella and EDC, why not find a way to these music festivals to have fun with your friends? There are some music festivals where it is calmer during the day, so if you’re not a big party person, you can still have fun at the festival before all the crowds come in.

Sure summer is far from now, but it’s never too early to start planning. It also gives you an exciting summer to look forward to when you have those dreadful work days. If you want more ideas on how to spend your upcoming summer, visit Thrillist, Insider, and Buzzfeed for more.

Hello, I'm Samantha Tun. I want to share my adventures with others because I want others to come and experience the same things I do so they can have more fun in their lives. To start off, I am currently a senior in high school in the suburbs of Southern California. I've been looking into going to school at Chapman University to major in interpersonal communications.
I'm the kind of girl you will find at home. I love spending time with my family and binge-watching all the shows I missed during the week. If I'm invited to a party, I'll go and party too. It all depends on the environment. The one thing always stays constant is my smile. Several people have told me that I radiate happy vibes. I like to have this smile on my face because I believe happiness is contagious. It's impossible to not laugh when told to or smile when someone else is smiling. In fact, I'm smiling as I am writing this blurb about myself.
